Every year in April, La Canada High School celebrates Fine Arts Month. Throughout the month are various Performing Arts events along with a month long school art exhibit. To help “kick off” the art exhibit, the Visual Arts Department holds its annual “VIP Night.” This is an event just for the student artists and their families to view their work in a more intimate setting. The art show is open to the public before all Performing Arts events and daily during 9-12 lunch. Private viewing appointments are also available and reservations can be made with any art department faculty member or with the site secretaries. The art show is a special opportunity for students of the art program to showcase their talents. It’s also a way for students to take pride in their work and be able to openly share it with others. On display are drawings, paintings, mixed media work, ceramics (both hand built and wheel thrown) and sculptures. Lastly, students not only get to participate, but they also develop an understanding of what goes into creating and preparing a public art exhibition.
